Book Clubbin’: 8 Discussions Questions for ‘Quicksilver’ by Callie Hart

We’re back with another Book Clubbin’ feature, and this time we’re venturing into the scorching deserts and icy fae realms of Quicksilver by Callie Hart, narrated in duet style by Anthony Palmini and Stella Bloom.

Quicksilver follows Saeris Fane—secret alchemist, skilled thief, and survivor—who has spent her life hiding her powers while stealing water from the Undying Queen’s reservoirs. But when she crosses paths with Death himself and accidentally opens a forbidden gateway, Saeris is ripped from her harsh desert home and thrown into the frozen mountains of Yvelia.

There, she becomes magically bound to Kingfisher—a deadly fae warrior, reluctant guardian, and a male with enough secrets to topple kingdoms. The two are forced into an uneasy alliance as Saeris struggles to control her magic, navigate ancient fae politics, and survive a realm that was never meant for mortals like her.

With enemies-to-lovers tension, razor-sharp banter, immersive world-building, and a rich magic system, Quicksilver is the kind of romantasy audiobook that hooks you instantly. And now that Book 2, Brimstone, has just released, it’s the perfect time to dig in and discuss every twist, reveal, and spicy moment.

Ready to dive deeper? Beware—SPOILERS ahead!

Book cover for Quicksilver by Callie Hart

—————CONTAINS SPOILERS!—————

1) Saeris’s life in the desert shapes her instincts and decisions throughout the story. How did her upbringing influence the way she responds to the fae world?

2) The magic system blends alchemy, quicksilver, and ancient fae laws. Which part of the magic or world-building did you find most intriguing or confusing?

3) How did you feel about the story’s pacing as Saeris moved from the desert to Yvelia? Were you immediately invested, or did it take a moment to adjust to the new realm?

4) Saeris is clever, bold, and often reckless. Which of her traits did you relate to most, and which frustrated you the most?

5) Fisher is grumpy, secretive, and intensely loyal. What was the moment that shifted your opinion of him, and why?

6) The found-family cast adds humor, tension, and heart to the story. Which member of the group would you most want at your side—and which would you avoid?

7) Because the story is told entirely through Saeris’s point of view, we only see Fisher from the outside. How did this limited perspective affect your experience of their relationship?

8) As enemies become uneasy allies—and eventually more—how did you feel about the evolution of Saeris and Fisher’s dynamic? Did the shift feel natural to you?

9) The ending reveals major secrets and raises new stakes. How did the final twist change your understanding of the story or the characters?

10) With Brimstone now out, what are your predictions for the next chapter of Saeris and Fisher’s journey? What are you hoping to see explored next?

Staff Pick: ‘The Woman in Suite 11’ by Ruth Ware

TitleThe Woman in Suite 11

AuthorRuth Ware

NarratorImogen Church

Like everyone else back in 2016, I loved The Woman in Cabin 10 and recommended it to everyone I knew. Since then, I have read almost all of Ruth Ware‘s books and would consider myself a fan. When I heard that she was releasing a sequel (10 years later) to The Woman in Cabin 10, I had mixed emotions. I was excited to see what Lo had been up to, but was also nervous to see if it would live up to the hype and be as good as the first one.

The Setup: Lo Blackwood’s Next Mystery

It has been a couple of years since travel journalist Lo Blackwood last wrote an article, and when she gets an invitation to stay at a luxury hotel just off the coast of Lake Geneva, she can’t say no. Within the first day of her adventure, suspicious things start happening to her, and she begins to question why she was really invited. Before we know it, Lo is back in the middle of a new mystery, trying to not only save herself but also wondering who she can truly trust and depend on. Just when you think you know the ending, a shocking twist keeps you glued to the story until the very last page.

Narration That Pulls You In

I was happy to hear that Imogen Church was the narrator, as she has narrated Ware‘s other books, and I have always enjoyed her performances. She delivers a range of voices and accents with emotion, often making you wonder: Can we trust this character? Her performance makes you feel like you are right there along for the adventure.

Ware’s Signature Style

Ruth Ware gives so much detail in her writing, especially when it comes to describing senses and the atmosphere, that you can picture everything so clearly. You never know where she is going to go next with the story, and who doesn’t love a good plot twist!
So, does it live up to the hype of the first book? In my opinion, it definitely does. If you are looking for a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and is full of twists and turns, then you will want to make this one your next listen!

Adaptation News

If you were a fan of The Woman in Cabin 10, it is being adapted into a Netflix movie starring Keira Knightly, and is set to be released on October 10, 2025. Grab your popcorn and check it out to see how they brought this classic thriller to life!

Publisher Summary:

In this follow-up to #1 New York Times bestselling author Ruth Ware’s multi-million copy mega-hit The Woman in Cabin 10, Lo Blacklock returns to attend the opening of a luxury hotel, only to find herself in a white-knuckled race across Europe.

When the invitation to attend the press opening of a luxury Swiss hotel—owned by reclusive billionaire Marcus Leidmann—arrives, it’s like the answer to a prayer. Three years after the birth of her youngest child, Lo Blacklock is ready to reestablish her journalism career, but post-pandemic travel journalism is a very different landscape from the one she left ten years ago.

The chateau on the shores of Lake Geneva is everything Lo’s ever dreamed of, and she hopes she can snag an interview with Marcus. Unfortunately, he proves to be even more difficult to pin down than his reputation suggests. When Lo gets a late-night call asking her to come to Marcus’s hotel room, she agrees despite her own misgivings. She’s greeted, however, by a woman claiming to be Marcus’s mistress, and in life-or-death jeopardy.

What follows is a thrilling pursuit across Europe, forcing Lo to ask herself just how much she’s willing to sacrifice to save this woman…and if she can even trust her?

The Magic of Full-Cast Audiobooks

If you’ve ever been completely swept away by a book, you know that the magic lies not just in the words themselves, but in how those words are brought to life. That’s where full-cast audiobooks truly shine.

Unlike traditional audiobooks, which feature a single narrator voicing every character, a full-cast production assigns different actors to different roles—often paired with immersive sound design and music. This approach transforms an audiobook into something closer to an audio drama, adding depth, emotion, and texture to every scene.

With a full cast, you instantly recognize characters by their voices, making it easier to follow complex plots or large ensembles. Dialogue feels authentic, pacing feels cinematic, and subtle nuances in performance can make even familiar stories feel brand new. It’s like having a stage play or a high-quality radio drama unfold in your ears, wherever you are.

Whether you’re diving into an epic fantasy, a heart-pounding thriller, or an intimate memoir, full-cast audiobooks elevate the experience—turning listening into something vibrant, layered, and unforgettable. Here are four standout titles to get you started.
